Frequently Asked Questions
How long is a single session?
One to one sessions last 50 minutes
Family therapy sessions last 1 hour
How much do the sessions cost?
First Assessment £60.00
1 to 1 sessions £50.00
Family therapy £75.00
How often should I attend?
One to one sessions should take place once a week. Family therapy sessions do not require this regularity, and these can be booked as and when required.
How will I know you are the right counsellor for me?
I will invite you for an assessment which will last approximately 1 hour. During this time we will be able to establish if us working together feels right for you. There is no obligation to commit to the process at this stage.
How will I know if I need to be in long term therapy or short term therapy?
This will likely be established at the assessment. And if during counselling, if you had envisaged coming for a fixed amount of solution focused sessions but feel due to the work being deeper, and requiring more time, we can discuss this. Equally if you initially felt you would require long term therapy and feel after a certain number of sessions that you would like to end, there is no obligation to continue beyond the required two weeks minimum notice to end.
What if I am unable to attend a session?
Due to the commitment required for the process to work, in most therapeutic practices all sessions are payable. However, I am aware of the difficulties that may arise which may require rescheduling. I do therefore accept a 48 hours cancellation notice. Any sessions cancelled after this period will be charged for. If I inform you that I am unable to take a particular session, there will be no charge. If at the beginning of therapy you are aware and inform me of particular dates that you will be unable to attend, these will not be charged for.
What if I wanted to end therapy?
We will discuss this and plan a suitable ending for you. For example, if you have been attending for 2 to 12 sessions, I would recommend that you have 2 sessions so that you have a comfortable ending to therapy with myself. If you have been attending longer than 12 weeks I would suggest you come for a session for each month that you have been in therapy to allow a suitable ending.
